ThePlace2Be
At YWCA Quad Cities, ThePlace2B is a welcoming, no-cost drop-in center designed for teens, open Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It’s a safe and supportive space where youth can gather to relax, connect, and grow through enriching activities—from basketball and swimming to tutoring, meals, and mentorship. With an average of 25–30 young people attending each evening, ThePlace2B creates a community atmosphere that helps teens feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Within this program, Young Lions Roar runs its own creative workshop series on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30–6:30 PM at the YWCA in downtown Rock Island, IL. These sessions invite teens to explore poetry, storytelling, and self-expression while building confidence, communication skills, and community. By integrating arts education into ThePlace2B’s offerings, Young Lions Roar provides a platform for youth voices to shine and ensures that every young person has the chance to discover the power of their roar.
